DBZ Abridged

There's a warm place in my heart for Dragonball Z. The show had a green guy in a turban, a bald midget, a pig-man, some kind of catfish sensei who lived on a tiny planet at the end of an enormous snake road somewhere in the afterlife, and Bulma.

I'm pretty sure the original storyboard was written in feces by some schizophrenic in a psych ward and then re-interpreted by a team of animators who studied the shit-stains with very serious faces.
At one point in the show some guy casually blows up the Moon. There's no logic here, but so much enthusiasm. It's a beautiful show. Very slow, though.

That's why I love Team Four Star. These dudes have taken the DBZ that I was exposed to at a formative age and condensed it into a smaller, more direct show that's easier to digest, and probably a lot better.

Why? Because they're good people. That's why.

(I'm pretty sure that Team Four Star has better voice actors than the actual show)

  1. I was wondering why a video this good only had under 200 views. Here's the original Team Four Star post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uo5Rhn8zuPA&feature=channel_video_title

  2. Balls!
    Fixed!
    Thanks!
    Lame excuse:
If you knew the alchemy I have to perform in order to imbed a god-damned Youtube video on Blogspot, your hair would curdle (more).

Because, apparently, I can't just paste a link. No, not that. Why make things easy?
They have this special search window that's very good at omitting whatever it is I'm actually looking for.
So if I ever do a post about a video and it's just a link instead of embedded, that's probably because I couldn't find the damn thing.

  3. I was browsing around today and apparently a lot of their vids did get taken down off the tubes. Bummer.

  4. No bummer. Go here:

Okay. Small bummer. You're stuck with an ad for every video, and I haven't found a way to make them cycle up, so the site always seems to automatically jump to an earlier episode instead of a later one.

But at least you can watch them!

  5. I think the sequence that was just condensed originally took like 20 hours or something.

And yeah, these voices are way better than the "official" localization. Heck, they're better than the Japanese voices.

Also, you should know that DBZ the TV show is about 95% an exact transliteration from DBZ the manga, frame by frame. This probably has something to do with why the pacing is so awful.
