Revenge Solves Everything

Do you know what's better than a revenge story? Nothing!

The whole plague-stricken nightmare fantasy-pseudo-London setting in an open-ended game world backed by developers famous for creating satisfying, non-linear experiences helps, too.

Revenge solves everything. What a great line.

  1. Granted I never played the Assassin's Creed games, but I was so pissed that the dude would get to the guy he's trying to kill this whole time and NOT kill him! He's an assassin! He kills people all the effing time! WHY wouldn't he kill the dude?

Anyway, going back to Dishonored, it's very satisfying that when he slits the old rich guy's throat. When he does that, this man is essentially also murdering a very tired cliche in modern narratives. Good on him.

  2. Case in point:

Here's Black Dynamite killing some poor Asian kid trying to run away - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNEoP7TuEu8

Here's Black Dynamite NOT killing President Nixon, the man who killed his brother and (even worse) shrunk black men's dicks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcYn0lVDwv4

Though admittedly Black Dynamite has 10 million times more swag than Ezio.

  3. "Killing me won't solve anything!" and then, almost before the SOB can finish his sentence, Corvo slits his throat.
No one-liner comeback. No moment of hesitation. No special finishing move, like throwing the dude out the window. NO FUCKING cut-scene where Altair and his target have this long, drawn-out philosophical debate.

    Good for Corvo.
